William Utermohlen’s ‘Self’, a self-portrait drawn in 1967, sees the artist with hunched shoulders, a receding hairline, and a delicate neck that speak of premature ageing and a sense of vulnerability. 3 décembre 2015, par Chris BoicosThe Big Messy Christmas Show opened its doors to the public on 1st December at Le HUIT gallery.
Attendants included some of our exhibiting artists :
David Loeb, Jean Le Moal, Jean-Manuel Simoes, Magali Veslin andJorge Rodriguez de Rivera were present at the opening reception to welcome and guide around the audience.
The Big Messy Christmas Show, presenting works by 25 international artists, will last untill 13th December, daily open 14.00 - 19.00h (...) -

(Born Philadelphia, 5 December 1933 – Died London, 21 March 2007)
William Utermohlen was born in south Philadelphia in 1933. He studied art at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts from 1951 to 1957 and on the G.I. bill at the Ruskin School of Art in Oxford in 1957-58. In 1962 he settled in London, where he met and married the art historian Patricia Redmond. In 1967 he received his first important London show at the Marlborough gallery.
